This building compromises the first phase of a 20 year masterplan for the redevelopment of a former quarry in Somerset. It provides a high quality working environment for food production, with careful consideration to future growth of the campus.
The selected materials are modest and archetypal of industrial buildings; an asymmetric steel portal frame arrangement accommodates generous clear spanning rooms and flexibility for future uses, and the timber and corrugated steel cladding is well detailed to express the building's form.
Structure Workshop provided preplanning assistance, enhancing the architect's concepts through a successful planning process.
