2018 DLOTS Beijing
Since its initial installation, Dappled Light of the Sun has been shown in various international locations including, The Chatsworth Estate, UK; Riyadh, Lebanon; Ancona, Italy; and Geneva, Switzerland.

Structure Workshop closely collaborated with the artist, Conrad Shawcross, to re-design this fractal array of decaying tetrahedra for Corner Square as part of the Guo Rui Square Project, Beijing.

The canopy comprises four sculptural clouds, each of 1354 tetrahedra. The are two of each sculptural arrangement, made up of 5 generations of tetrahedra with edge lengths decreasing linearly from 838mm to 161mm. Each cloud is supported on 3 tripod support structures meaning the tetrahedra canopy is between 3.35m and 6.70m above ground level. Proportion studies, rule-based arrangements, CNC cutting patterns, structural analysis, tripod design and scheduling was carried out by Structure Workshop.
