This retrofit project converted the school’s former caretaker’s cottage into a professional kitchen and teaching space. It provides facilities for chefs to teach children how to grow, cook and eat healthy and delicious food.
The scheme has been designed to make maximum use of the existing building for the minimum budget.
Simple yet considered structural interventions were used to unlock the potential of the building, such as a steel ring beam to restrain the perimeter walls and allow the first floor to be removed.
