Working closely with Feilden Fowles Architects and development partners Stories, we are currently designing a holistic transformation of the main College site.
The centrepiece is a new south range, providing 174 study bedrooms, a new Porters’ Lodge gatehouse and entrance garden, alongside academic and social spaces that support a broad range of College activities and uses.
The College’s original buildings, designed by Basil Champneys and completed in 1889, form the northern range of the site and reflect Mansfield’s non-conformist origins.
Our response is a “low-tech” approach favouring natural materials, simplicity, and longevity.

Together with Feilden Fowles, we’ve developed a hybrid structural system combining a timber frame with load-bearing limestone walls.

This quietly radical contemporary response is rooted in the material character of Champneys’ architecture and in the wider traditions of Oxford.
