Old Coal Yard is a series of interconnected spaces for a private client in Surrey. The project takes it name from the site's previous use.
Old Coal Yard can be split into two main components. The living quarters, identified as the long rectangle on plan, and the garage, which intersects the living quarters on an angle.
The two areas adopt different roof forms, with the living quarters utilising angled and upstanding steel I-sections to support sections of pitched roof. The garage uses a series of steel fink trusses to support a typical duopitch roof. North-facing rooflights allow daylight into all spaces.
