2015
This building forms the centrepiece of an extended indoor/outdoor play landscape and also a key component in the Pensthorpe Nature Park master plan in Norfolk. Structure Workshop provided engineering design services for the entire project. The exposed steel frame is essentially utilitarian, but has been carefully considered and detailed to augment the architectural intent. The walls are formed in SIPS panels and the absence of wet trades ensured a rapid construction programme. The building is clad in timber on the outside (with nesting holes) and internally a ‘wood-wool’ board is used for sound attenuation. Shortlisted for a RIBA Award 2016.
