We were delighted to work with Feilden Fowles Architects on the design of The Hoyland; a new teaching and learning centre for Pinewood School in Wiltshire.
A two-storey, open plan resource and gathering space is recessed into the natural slope of the landscape, facilitating upper access at grade. The lower, one-storey section of the building houses classrooms and the ‘learning street’ and leads directly onto the playing fields beyond.
The structure employs a hybrid system including load bearing masonry and concealed steel framing. Expressed timber elements comprise LVL roof joists and primary beams with Douglas Fir columns.
