An uncompromisingly modern house in South London incorporating an exposed steel frame with diagonal bracing and precast concrete floors and stairs. Despite being clad in glass the house achieves level 5 Code for Sustainable Homes. The walls are super insulated, and ground source heating is integrated into the structural piles. A photovoltaic array at roof level produces power.Additional features include mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and rainwater harvesting. The project featured on Grand Designs and won a RIBA award and the Manser Medal in 2013 for the best house of the year.
