2010 Southend Stage
This demountable stage was designed with low cost readily available materials.

In the absence of relevant design codes, Structure Workshop pioneered the use of the composite timber and polycarbonate panels which acted as the spanning, load bearing and lateral stability elements of the stage. In order to ratify the theoretical approach a full scale load test was carried out on a prototype beam section.

The project was shortlisted for the AJ Small Projects Award and the Project Engineer, Tim Salmon, won the IStructE Young Structural Engineer Award for his work on the project.
