This projects involves the renovation of several derelict 19th century farm buildings around a fold-yard in Lower Wraxall, Dorset. Wraxall Yard contains five holiday rental accommodation cottages designed to be accessible for people with reduced movement.
The barns had undergone several repairs and alterations throughout their history, and as such the structural design was guided by a desire to retain as much of the existing fabric while sensitively adding or replacing material where needed to extend the lives of the buildings. Many of the existing roof trusses were retained, along with the majority of the external stone and masonry walls.
