WHO WE ARE

We are a team of engineers, problem-solvers, and designers dedicated to delivering structures that are innovative and expressive. Since 2004, we’ve worked closely with committed clients, architects, and artists to deliver designs that are thoughtful and enduring.

From our design office, in a cobbled yard in London, we pursue technical creativity, alongside a respect for material and craft. Whether restoring heritage buildings or engineering contemporary structures, our aim is to contribute positively to culture, community, and the environment.

HOW WE WORK

At the heart of our practice is the belief that exceptional design balances technical excellence, aesthetic beauty, and social responsibility. Every project begins with curiosity and collaboration, allowing our team to respond with creative solutions to the unique context of each site. We aim to influence projects in meaningful ways, helping shape designs that embody clarity, simplicity, and quality.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:

Clear expression, rigorous analysis, and a deep understanding of building structures define our approach.

MATERIAL INNOVATION:

We question conventions and explore alternative material choices and construction methods, drawing on our experience from the arts and specialist fabrication techniques.

LOW CARBON OUTCOMES:

From retrofit projects to championing low-carbon material, we focus on reducing the environmental impact of our work, and prioritising responsible design. Using our own carbon-calculator tools we profile the embodied carbon of all our designs during development, for all stages of the project life cycle.
Our work in this field has been widely publicised, and is recognised by the Institution of Structural Engineers.

WHAT WE DO

  • We design structures with good bones. From small-scale experimental work to landmark cultural projects, our work spans a range of sectors and challenges, united by a commitment to quality and best practice.
  • We design contemporary structures from the ground up and breathe new life into existing buildings. Drawing on our experience of varied construction methods we work on sites of national heritage and ecological significance, including Grade I listed structures.
  • We combine informed carbon analysis, optioneering, and an understanding of materials to minimise carbon impact on all our projects.
  • We collaborate with internationally recognised artists and fabricators to realise bold and ambitious public artworks and installations around the world.
