2019 Bicameral
This permanent large scale art work was commissioned for the Chelsea Barracks site in South West London. It is unlike any structure we have worked on before in terms of its materiality and connection detail.

The sculpture is fabricated from thick aluminium plate, rolled to order, and the entire work slots together with tines secured by dowels. Having been water jet cut all parts were precision milled before being anodised in dark blue to provide a durable surface finish.

The geometry is based on a series of bifurcating and bifurcating branches that decay in strict proportion from stem to tip. Parametric modelling was used to develop the geometry, and both physical and 3D computer analysis models were extensively used to predict behaviour.
