The project uses the U-Build construction system, developed with Studio Bark, and employs offsite CNC manufacture to streamline construction and reduce tolerances. The resulting building achieves passive house levels of airtightness and U-values and is estimated to have less than 50% of the embodied carbon of an equivalent house built using traditional methods.
All primary load paths use a cellular plywood module, modelled and analysed and ultimately ratified with a bespoke yet slightly cranky full scale load test.
